An unprecedented initiative in the Brazilian academic environment.
With ESPM LifeLab, we seek to develop competencies that go beyond technical knowledge, preparing students, citizens and professionals even more capable of facing life and work today and in the future. It is a vertical of unprecedented and innovative disciplines, which aim to celebrate lifelong learning and soft skills.
ESPM LifeLab is an unprecedented initiative in the Brazilian academic environment. With the changes in the labor market caused by social and technological advances, it is difficult to predict the future of professions, increasing uncertainties and professional insecurity. The time has come to reinvent the way we teach and learn, both personally and professionally.
These competencies relate to three main pillars:
We encourage our students to develop not only skills conventional to the careers they choose in college, but also those that promote social welfare, capable of forming more humane and unusual beings.
Benchmarks and tools to prepare for a life of learning pursuit.
Fluency in numbers and technological innovations. Dealing with the digital world is essential to understand the world and, consequently, our relationships.
Development of the so-called soft skills, such as self-knowledge and leadership. Improvement in communication skills and interpersonal relationships.
In theory and in practice
Initially, ESPM LifeLab will be composed of fourteen courses, and each student will have to take six of them, with the "Learning Laboratory" being compulsory and the other five chosen from among the remaining courses. Classes will always be mixed, bringing together students from all courses and potentially from all locations.
What ESPM LifeLab is not:
ESPM LifeLab is not intended to replace the training proposed for each degree program. The proposal is to complement the training of courses with other competencies.
